Fujifilm Heat Distribution Measurement

Thermoscale is a temperature-sensing device – a thin and flexible film that quickly measures heat and heat fluctuation. This makes it ideal for measuring areas where other heat transducer methods cannot be used. You can also use these for heat seals and any areas where the surface will be in motion.

Increase the Heat with metricSHIELD

metricSHIELD is Pressure Metric's polyimide protective overlay for extreme temperature testing. When combined with Prescale film, metricSHIELD allows accurate pressure measurement in conditions ranging from -452°F to 752°F (-269°C to 400°C).

  • Heat Distribution Records

    • Thermoscale 100C and 200C products produce vibrant, full-color records of the surface heat distribution

    • MetricTEMP provides an economical and easy-to-read greyscale record of only heat distribution with no temperature calibration.

  • Temperature Calibration

    • Thermoscale 100C and 200C provide the calibrated temperature. A free calibration sheet is included

    • MetricTemp doesn’t provide any temperature calibration

  • Packing Availability

    • Thermoscale 100C and 200C are sold as rolls.

    • MetricTEMP comes in sheet packs (50 of the smaller sheets or 25 of the larger sheets).

FAQs

THERMOSCALE is a heat-sensitive film that changes color according to temperature and contact time, providing a visual map of heat distribution across contact surfaces.

When the film contacts a heated surface, its special layer reacts to temperature, creating a darker color in hotter areas and lighter color where it’s cooler. This lets users instantly see uneven heating or thermal loss.

It’s widely used to check heat-seal uniformity, lamination balance, thermal press temperature, and tooling or die heating consistency in packaging, electronics, and composite manufacturing.

Depending on the grade, THERMOSCALE measures from roughly 80 °C to 210 °C (176 °F to 410 °F), covering typical sealing, lamination, and molding processes.

No. It is a single-use film—once exposed to heat, the color change is permanent and serves as a record of the temperature distribution.

Only light contact pressure is needed for proper color transfer. Excessive pressure can blur or darken the image, so even, gentle contact works best.
