Pressure Measurement Film
Choose between roll or sheet film types
-
PRESCALE
Film rolls are continuous lengths of film designed for cutting to size, ideal for large or repeated testing areas such as rollers, seals, and production lines. They offer flexibility for multiple tests or long contact surfaces where a single sheet wouldn’t be sufficient.
Common applications include:- Measuring roller & nip pressure
- Checking heat-seal uniformity
- Testing pressure balance
- Monitoring contact uniformity (large)
- Verifying roller alignment
-
PRESCALE Sheets
Film sheets are pre-cut, ready-to-use pieces for quick or one-time measurements. They’re convenient for smaller components, field testing, or lab work where precision and ease of handling matter more than coverage area.
Common applications include:- Evaluating gasket & seal pressure
- Measuring clamping & bolting force
- Checking contact uniformity (small)
- Analyzing mold & press pressure
- Validating medical device or packaging seals
Prescale applications
-
- Electrophotographic heat fixing parts

What is Fujifilm PRESCALE film?
PRESCALE is a pressure-sensitive film that changes color according to the amount and distribution of applied pressure, providing a clear visual map of contact uniformity.
How does it work?
The film contains microcapsules that burst under pressure, releasing a color-forming agent. The color density increases where pressure is higher, making it easy to see uneven load or gaps between surfaces.
What are common applications for PRESCALE?
PRESCALE is widely used in automotive, packaging, medical, electronics, and tooling industries to verify uniform pressure in gaskets, laminations, molds, heat-seals, and roller systems.
What pressure ranges can it measure?
PRESCALE covers a wide range from approximately 0.2 to 300 MPa (30 to 43,500 psi), depending on the film grade selected. Each grade is designed for a specific pressure range.
Can films be reused?
No. PRESCALE films are single-use only. Once the microcapsules rupture and the color develops, it provides a permanent record of pressure distribution.
What types of surfaces can it be used on?
PRESCALE works on most flat or slightly curved surfaces, including metal, plastic, glass, or rubber. It’s flexible enough to fit small gaps or complex shapes where sensors can’t reach.
How do I choose the right grade?
Match your expected pressure range to the corresponding film grade. You can refer to Fujifilm’s grade chart or contact us for personalized recommendations.
UVscale applications
What is UVSCALE used for?
UVSCALE is a color-changing film used to visualize and measure UV light distribution and intensity. It helps identify uneven UV exposure in processes such as UV printing, curing, coating, and bonding applications.
How does it work?
When exposed to ultraviolet light, UVSCALE changes color according to the accumulated UV energy. The darker or more intense the color, the greater the UV exposure. Results can be evaluated visually or through digital analysis for higher precision.
What UV light sources is UVSCALE compatible with?
UVSCALE works with a wide range of light sources, including metal halide, low and high-pressure mercury, and LED-based UV systems, covering a broad sensitivity range from 200 to 7000 mJ/cm².
Can films be reused?
No. Each piece of UVSCALE film is designed for single-use testing to ensure accurate measurement of UV exposure. After exposure, results can be documented or digitally analyzed.
What are common applications of UVSCALE?
UVSCALE is commonly used in UV printing, coating lines, curing systems, and quality assurance environments to verify light uniformity, detect lamp degradation, and optimize curing performance.
Can UVSCALE measure UV light in areas where sensors can’t reach?
Yes. UVSCALE is ideal for confined or complex spaces where electronic sensors or radiometers cannot be positioned effectively, such as within roll-to-roll systems or enclosed UV curing chambers.
Thermoscale FAQs
What is Fujifilm THERMOSCALE film?
THERMOSCALE is a heat-sensitive film that changes color according to temperature and contact time, providing a visual map of heat distribution across contact surfaces.
How does it work?
When the film contacts a heated surface, its special layer reacts to temperature, creating a darker color in hotter areas and lighter color where it’s cooler. This lets users instantly see uneven heating or thermal loss.
What are some common applications for THERMOSCALE?
It’s widely used to check heat-seal uniformity, lamination balance, thermal press temperature, and tooling or die heating consistency in packaging, electronics, and composite manufacturing.
What temperature range can it measure?
Depending on the grade, THERMOSCALE measures from roughly 80 °C to 210 °C (176 °F to 410 °F), covering typical sealing, lamination, and molding processes.
Can films be reused?
No. It is a single-use film. Once exposed to heat, the color change is permanent and serves as a record of the temperature distribution.
Does pressure affect the results?
Only light contact pressure is needed for proper color transfer. Excessive pressure can blur or darken the image, so even, gentle contact works best.
